This Image shows a small Wurzburg radar installation. It was taken with the same camera and developed at the same time as the previous demolished Doyle Column photograph and therefore would have been taken in 1944.
Due to the above facts it can be assumed that this photograph was taken in Guernsey. It shows 'La Varde' as a similar image is shown in Alain Chazette and Bernard Paich's book "Stations radar et radio-navigation sur la Mur de l'Antique" on page 90. Many thanks to Ger Geertsma from the Netherlands for this information.
The image has also been identified as being at La Varde by Laurie Waite from the Clifton Antiquarian Club who were undertaking archaeological work there in 2023 --- "We thought you'd like to know that the photo you have of the Wurzburg radar is definitely on the hill at La Varde, L'Ancresse. The radar and the 150cm searchlight nearby were positioned 40m west of La Varde monument. The photo is orientated NW and the coastline behind replicates well with photos we have, including field boundaries."
The author has also seen this image on the net attributed to Corbiere in Jersey - this is wrong information.
The above image shows an enlargement of the searchlight as seen to the right of the radar dish.
