Peter Valpied was a photographer c1867 with his wife Lucy probably helping - Five examples cdv's are shown below.

Two styles of back styles are also depicted, with style one being the earliest. It looks like the early cards are possibly gold toned which helps preserve the image.

There is a possibility that Peter's photographic career was only a side line and not his main business as he is listed in the 1871 census as a Draper's Assistant, while his wife is listed as a Photographic Artist.

In the 1861 Census Peter is listed as an Ironmonger with his wife having no entry.

It is also a possibility that Mrs Valpied in the early 1870's briefly carried on the business while her husband worked in his other job as there is a Mrs Valpied shown operating from 20 Mount Row, St Peter Port. (Listed in Mackenzie & Co's Almanack of 1872). More research is necessary.
