Colonel Knackfuss & Forced Labour Camp workers.

Shown here among un-named German officers of Feldkommand 515 is what the author believes to be an image of Colonel Friedrich Knackfuss.

He was based in Jersey and was between late 1941 and early 1944, Feldkommandant of the Civil Affairs Department of the Channel Islands Military Government.

Knackfuss left his command in March 1944, due to anti Nazi comments. He was was court-martialed and was believed to have died in Russia in the same year.

This image may have been taken in Alderney, and shows forced labourers ( slave or political).
