Liberation of Guernsey 9th May 1945

This image shows Royal Navy Liberation fleet outside St Peter Port Harbour. The back of the image says 'Liberation Morning May 9th 1945', but some people believe the picture was taken on Saturday May 12th.

This photo is a wonderful shot showing the sun shining through the morning clouds promising a bright new day and an era of peace.
