Henri de Monteyremar was a former editor of the 'Gazette de Guernesey' and sometime on the staff of of the Paris 'Figaro' - he wrote in 1877' The Bailiff's Cross' A GUERNSEY LEGEND in French, which was translated by his Grand-daughter Helene Gacon in 1946.

He also wrote an introduction to George Metivier's book about Guernsey and French poems published in 1883 and 'Charlotte Corday'. who was a figure of the French Revolution.
